    I support any sort of style brought to a home if it suits the owner but it’s definitely refreshing to see something that isn’t just gutting a structure and modernising it. I am so bored of modern, I want creativity and individual style

    One advantage of living in the Texas panhandle, is that the wind blows away what few leaves we have. 😂 No leaf blowers! This can be a harsh climate at times, but it also is very quiet. There are times you could be outside and hear a pin drop, but other times the noise of the wind itself is annoying. Trying so hard to focus on the things I like and not missing the garden I had back east. Love your videos.❤

    The rose mallow plant that has large flowers and an upright habit like a hollyhock, but it's native to Maryland and likes swamps. It's taller and has larger blooms, but will get you that hollyhock feel without so much heartache

  • @saraa3418
    @saraa3418 6 днів тому

    I think you'd really like to work in some native plants like bee balm, false indigo, swamp milkweed, and spice bush. Swamp milkweed and spice bush both do well in partially sunny wet areas like your east facing side yard. False indigo gets pretty tall and bushy with showy purple blooms in late spring. Bee balm is a mint relative with silly looking pinky purple flowers that smell sweet and hum with pollinators. Swamp milkweed is also the plant that swallowtail butterflies lay their eggs on which means more butterflies for you! If you wanted to get some more useful native plants in, jewel weed usually grows near the swamp milkweed and is medicinal. As a Marylander, I would be remise if I didn't suggest you plant rudbeckia, our state flower.

    Carrot seeds are edible and can be used as a spice. The taste is kind of between cumin and caraway, but with a bit more licorice. They're used a fair bit in Indian and Persian food in breads and rice dishes. I've also seen fancy flowering carrot varieties with different colored flowers most are pinkish but I've also seen deep burgundy flowers.

    Incredible channel! Me and my wife are currently in the process of purchasing a white lime rendered cottage called Shakesphere cottage so I’m wanting to create a Shakesphere inspired garden and I’ve found your channel through research and your artistry is incredible. I look forward to watching more of your content. These videos about colour play are definitely your best vids in my opinion! I love your knowledge on play and how you think of gardens as painting. Inspired. Subscribed 👍🏼 P.s any advice on playing with a complete white background would be great! The garden is north facing too so I have a challenge on my hands 👍🏼

      Oh, for working with a white background you can use plants with strong silhouette’s and even dark colored blooms that normally get lost in normal garden settings. It depends on what overall feel you want.

    It's not a bad idea to add the ancient library, but in this case, the space is too small, and it would look too busy with the added barrel ceiling. If the library space was larger, then it would give it a timeless, artistic and appealing look.

    • @suburbanhomestead
      @suburbanhomestead 7 днів тому

      Thanks. I think yours was one of the most insightful comments about this aspect. Indeed the scale is just not enough here. If the room was a couple feet bigger and especially higher it would give it a distinct feature not often found in “appropriate” interior design projects.
